Waterlilies by Meg Mercier
Meg Mercier

Meg Mercier studied painting in the Boston School tradition in the historic downtown Boston Fenway studios. Meg was trained in the disciplines of cast drawing, still life, figure drawing, and portrait painting. To compliment this time in the studio Meg started working en plein air under Robert Douglas Hunter along the Charles River on the original NC Wyeth property. This is where Meg’s love of working outdoors began. At daybreak you will often find Meg at the town wharf trying to capture the morning sunrise. Meg loves to paint the Rosa Rugosa blooming along the beach paths, the village roses climbing the white picket fences in Edgartown, and the hydrangeas bursting with color all over the island. With sailboats filling the harbor, fishermen casting their lines, the working Vineyard farms, and the delightful beach umbrellas; the island of Martha’s Vineyard offers endless inspiration.

When Meg is not outside painting you can find her at her studio atop the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association, just next to the Chappaquiddick Ferry.
